About

We help stories grow into identities

Lugugul is a design and product consulting studio. We sit at the intersection of strategy, design, and brand — helping teams turn promising ideas into remarkable products and memorable identities.

Our Philosophy

We believe every product, every brand, every business has a story waiting to bloom. Our role is to nurture that story — give it structure, give it voice, give it form.

Like a flower growing from the pages of a book, the best identities emerge from deep understanding: of the market, the users, the vision, and the people behind it all.

We think in systems — technical, human, and business layer at once.

The Name

What does Lugugul mean?

Lugugul is built from two words across two languages that have no obvious reason to meet. Lugu is Estonian for story. Gul is Persian — and Turkish, and Urdu — for flower.

Two languages from opposite ends of the world, stitched together into a word that reads the same whether you go forward or back: L·U·G·U·G·U·L.

That symmetry is intentional. The most loyal customers of any product or brand are those who don't just use it — they see the story behind it and recognise something of themselves in it. A story that holds its shape from any direction.

Much of the work here is about connecting dots that appear far apart. An engineering principle that unlocks a UX problem. A market insight that reshapes a brand direction. A name that carries a philosophy without needing to explain it. The dots rarely announce their connection — you have to hold them both, shift the angle, and let the pattern emerge.

Lugugul is a name that tries to embody that: a small story about the belief that the most memorable things are built from unexpected combinations, and that meaning — like a palindrome — reveals itself only when you look all the way through.

Education

MS HCI / Design — Indiana University

BS EE & Systems Control — Beihang University

Two degrees that rarely sit in the same person — one trains the eye for human behaviour and interface, the other builds the instinct for systems, control logic, and engineering constraints. Together they're the reason Qian reads a product problem at multiple levels simultaneously.

Qian is a product strategist and designer who has spent 16 years turning intricate systems — billing, revenue recognition, marketplace operations, cybersecurity — into products that people can actually use. Her speciality is the hard B2B problem: multi-stakeholder workflows, ambiguous briefs, and the kind of complexity that requires both design craft and systems thinking in equal measure.

What makes the perspective unusual is the foundation beneath it. An engineering degree in systems control means she doesn't just see the interface — she traces back to the logic, the constraints, the upstream decisions that made the interface what it is. A master's in HCI adds the human layer: behaviour, cognition, the gap between what users say and what they do. Sixteen years of applying both across industries as different as cybersecurity and commercial real estate rounds it into something hard to replicate.

In 2024 she took a deliberate step back — not from design, but from the familiar path. A year of reading, bouldering, building with GenAI, and sharpening new lenses on behavioral psychology and investment strategy. Lugugul grew out of that year: the natural container for independent work, applied experimentation, and a growing collection of domain names she'd been quietly cultivating for years.

She founded this studio because the problems she finds most interesting — systems that don't yet have a shape, stories that haven't found their name — rarely fit neatly inside a job description.

What We Value

Craft

We sweat the details. Every pixel, every word, every interaction is intentional.

Strategy

We make data-informed decisions. Beautiful design without purpose is decoration.

Partnership

We embed with your team. Great work happens through genuine collaboration.

Growth

We build for scale. Everything we create is designed to evolve with you.

Let's Connect

We'd love to hear about your project, your vision, or just say hello.
